A walk up M. Zebio from Asiago

The hills to the north of Asiago are where much of the activity happened in WW 1 between AustroHungarians and Italians. I walked up through the forest to M.Zebio and around the rocky tops, exploring past a cemetery, through trenches cut in the rock, underground hideouts and so on. Amongst the grass filling in between the rock (dolomite) were a great array of alpine flowers, really lovely! Plus views galore and in the far distance the Dolomites.
Robyn went to watch the WOC middle distance race which apparently had a dramatic finish with the world champ coming through first but had mis-punched. We all go there tomorrow and do some orienteering. Sounds like nice terrain!

And this is where the cows are now. Around Asiago all the grass is being made into hay for winter feed. Nice to see where they are enjoying their summer holidays! Every cow wore a big bell, and as they were being bothered by flies, the orchestral sounds were delightful!

And lastly, our (I had met with 2 Kiwis from New Plymouth, as you do) route had involved some imaginative map reading, so a little help from this squirrel didn't go amiss

By the way, is this blog working OK for you people out there?
