Saturday morning in Venice

Yesterday's exploration ... Tourists glide past the construction workers. Somehow feels like more Christchurch!

Gondolas may be kept only for tourists but so beautiful and do truly belong here.

Probably my best photo so far...San Salute, across the Grand Canal from San Marco (THE square).

And now Saturday morning. Our neighbourhood is delightful, a local residential area close to Rialto bridge. Little alleyways with small shops opening early (fruit, bakery, coffee and wine bars) and churches every 100 m. Or so! Work boats (like trucks) doing deliveries which are then wheeled in barrows along the little streets. Struggles in Chch make one wonder about sewage and drainage in this city, with millions of tourists. Best not to think perhaps. Everyone done sleeping and ready for the fray now. 9am.
